Wyoming wilderness elk hunting.

Wyoming Elk hunting camp deep in the Teton Wilderness, hunt unit 70.

the area

Our Wyoming Elk camp sits in the heart of the Teton wilderness, designated in 1964, and now contains some 585,238 acres. this area sitting on the southern boundary of Yellowstone is considered the most remote spot in the lower 48.

Teton Wilderness ranks among this nation's best wildlife areas. Summer brings trumpeter swans, sandhill cranes, ducks, geese, falcons, and songbirds. Grizzly bears, grey wolves, moose, and elk wander across meadows. Golden and bald eagles, hawks, grouse, coyotes, beavers, martens, bobcats, porcupines, otters, and mink live here year-round.

much of our elk hunting is done in Wyoming fish and game elk unit 70, which is 86.40% wilderness,

This area is composed of moderately rolling timber-covered hillsides to steep mountainous terrain. South-facing slopes are covered with sagebrush and aspen. This area is bisected by numerous large drainages with deep valleys and large open meadows. Lodgepole pine cover types intergrade into spruce/fir and whitebark pine at higher elevations.

Elk are scattered throughout higher elevations during September and October. Deep snow during late October often forces elk to lower elevations. As snow depth increases, elk migrate to winter ranges along the Gros Ventre River and National Elk Refuge. this area has few open roads. Access for hunters who desire this type of hunting is limited. The majority of the access is by horseback.

PREPARATIONS

Our elk hunting season here in Wyoming starts well before opening day. This being a wilderness elk hunting unit, everything you see and use at camp was packed in on the back of horses or mules.

we start by clearing trails. the fires that have made this an elk hunting paradise have also made trail maintenance a necessary part of each and every season. sometimes spanning the entire summer opening up lesser-used hunting trails.

good food always makes a physical day of elk hunting so much easier and along with all of the tents and amenities that you enjoy at your Wyoming elk camp we also pack in groceries for our horses and mules so they perform at their very best when we need them most.

Wyoming Elk hunting

the memories

We all pursue elk hunting for different reasons, whether it is to put meat on the table, test your abilities against one of Wyoming’s legendary trophy bull elk, or step back in time and experience elk hunting in the truest form, from horseback deep in the Wyoming wilderness, along with so many other reasons.

I think we can all agree,

That what we will cherish the most from this Wyoming wilderness elk hunting adventure is the long-lasting memories and friendships shared by only a few of us that were there to experience it.
